Introducing the Muddier Kitchen Floor ZINGER

Continuing my quest be be healthier, I realised that I often miss breakfast, or rather, breakfast consists of a black coffee or black tea. Not very healthy I know!! So I dug out the old juicer which has been collecting dust in the back of the pantry.

I’m not one for total juicing diets, but my thinking is, if I’m not eating breakfast, I could at least juice up some fruit and veggies, and at least get some real nutrition in my body. This mornings juice was made up of the following:

2 sticks of celery
2 handfuls of Kale
2 pears
2 apples
1/4 inch fresh ginger
1 small beetroot
1 whole Lemon
2 Carrots
1/2 small Pineapple

The juicer I have is a Phillips one, it’s about 7 years old, but for 5 of those years it’s lived in the pantry collecting dust. It’s quite powerful and the pulp that gets collected is really dry.

So all the ingredients are whizzed and juiced up, producing about 2 pints of dark red juice. It had a gingery top, due to the carrots. It looked very healthy, I was expecting it to be quite bitter with all the vegetables.

The first taste was definitely the zingy ginger, followed by the zesty lemon. Then there was just a real delicious taste of sweetness. No bitterness from the Kale, or the Celery. Definitely a juice I will make again!!

  1. I’m not really one for juices, but this does sound good. One to try.
